Privacy policy
We collect as little data as possible, and we never sell it or share it for commercial purposes. Many people who use this site work in conflict areas, so every form is designed not to reveal anyone’s identity.
Who we are
The New Civil Society Development Institute is a non-profit registered in Uganda and is responsible for the data collected through this site. We follow Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
For anything about your data: info@ncsdi.org
What we collect and why
Contact form: your name, email and message, only to reply to you.
Newsletter and “tell me when it is out” requests: your email only. You can unsubscribe from any message.
Certificates: the name you want on the certificate, the certificate name, issue date, score and verification code. Anyone verifying the code sees the name, certificate and date, not the score.
Contributions to the guides: the text you write, the city, and a pseudonym if you choose one. We do not ask for your real name and do not store an IP address with a contribution.
Darfur Recovery Fund applications: what the group submits, kept by the Fund team only.
What stays on your device
Reading progress, saved practices and papers, your choices in the interactive tools, and contribution drafts before you send them are stored in your browser only and never reach us. Clearing the site’s data in your browser removes them.
Cookies and analytics
We use no advertising cookies and do not track you across other sites. If we measure visits, we use a privacy-respecting tool that does not store full IP addresses.
Sharing on LinkedIn and WhatsApp
No LinkedIn or WhatsApp code loads on our pages. Nothing reaches them unless you press a share button, which takes you to their site under their own policies.
Who can see your data
Only the relevant NCSDI team, plus our hosting and email providers to the extent needed to run the service. We hand data to no one without a binding legal order, and will try to tell you where allowed.
How long we keep it
Contact messages: two years. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Certificate register: while the certificate is valid, since verification depends on it. Published contributions: while the guide is published; unpublished ones are deleted after the next edition.
Your rights
Ask for a copy of your data, its correction or deletion, or the revocation of a certificate in your name, by writing to info@ncsdi.org. We reply within thirty days.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), the dashboard is protected by two-step verification, and we keep encrypted backups.
Changes
If we change this policy we publish the new date at the top of the page and tell newsletter subscribers about any significant change.
