Knowledge Building Workshops for Youth Organizations, Initiatives, and Civil Actors in Darfur

From 28th to 30th of June 2024 (3 days), NCSDI implemented the (Knowledge building workshops for youth civil actors, organizations, and initiatives in Darfur). The workshops were held in Kampala (Uganda) and targeted 40 civil actors from all the 5 states of Darfur (24 representatives of NGOs and initiatives, 16 young men and women civil actors). Almost half of the participants were women. The workshops focused on building the participants knowledge on human rights, resilience, rights-based approach, context analysis, pre-interventions, and demography. The workshops engaged the participants in brainstorming and focus group sessions in order to identify the key intervention priorities in the Darfur region (during and post-war). The participants recommended that NCSDI should conduct a wide range of consultations with other civil actors in Darfur in order to reach a common agenda that will be the base for pre-&-evidence-based interventions in Darfur. After the workshop, we networked and built a database for civil actors and organizations from all the 5 states in Darfur.

Ongoing Projects

Economic and Social Development Indicators Assessment in Tawila Locality

Tawila Youth Initiatives (the name of the initiative before registering as the New Civil Society Development Institute) collaborated with the Economic and Social Research Bureau in Khartoum to assess the economic and social development indicators to identify the intervention priorities and develop a strategic plan based on the demography for peace and development in Tawila Locality, North Darfur, Sudan.

We held multiple meetings with Dr. Abdalla Ali Ibrahim and ESRB team and collected available secondary data about the situation in Tawila and prepared the project proposal.

The assessment was planned to act as a pilot project that is supposed to be generalized to the Darfur region as a model for evidence-based interventions. Sadly, the project has stopped due to the outbreak of the April 15 war.
